How does the app blocking work?
When you try to open a blocked app, Detoks detects this and shows a block screen. You'll need to enter a 6-digit unlock code from your Guardian to access the app temporarily.
What is a Settings Code?
After initial setup, Users need a "Settings Code" from their Guardian to modify their blocked apps list. This prevents Users from simply removing apps from the block list without accountability.
How long do unlock codes last?
Guardians can choose the duration when generating a code: 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, or 4 hours. After this time, the app is automatically blocked again.
Can I block system apps?
Detoks only shows user-installed apps, not system apps. This is intentional to prevent accidentally blocking essential phone functions.
What happens if I uninstall a blocked app?
The app is automatically removed from your blocked apps list. If you reinstall it later, you'll need to add it back to the block list.
Does my Guardian see which apps I use?
No. Your Guardian only sees which apps you've chosen to block and whether your protection is enabled. They cannot see your usage or activity.
What if my Guardian isn't available?
You'll need to wait until your Guardian can generate a code. This is the core accountability feature - having someone else hold the keys to your distracting apps.
Can I have multiple Guardians?
Currently, free users can link with 1 Guardian. Premium users can link with up to 6 Guardians for more flexibility.
β οΈ Important
If you disable protection or revoke permissions for Detoks, your Guardian will be notified. This ensures accountability even if you try to bypass the protection.
